Had a fairly hectic weekend.
Went to see the other half. Had Saturday off work so caught an early train up to Warrington. Nearly didn't make it cos some kind soul decided to thump another passenger on the train I should have been getting into London, causing it and the one behind to be stuck at Harlow.
Made the train at Euston with 2 minutes to spare and then sat there for 15 minutes until they shifted another train out the way.
Got to Warrington and headed off to Liverpool John Lennon Airport where they were doing special flights over Liverpool to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the airport.
The plane we were flying in was a Dakota DC-3, built in 1944.

Had to wait ages as they were running late but was worth it in the end as we took off in the basic comforts of the WW2 propeller-driven plane. Loads more legroom than your usual modern planes. The wingspan meant it was hard to get any decent pictures as the wings blocked a lot of the view from most seats but I managed to see Anfield, Goodison Park and Prenton Park on the way over.
Stayed in Runcorn on Saturday night. Had a nice Chinese at New Dragon City. Set meal, 15 quid each and a nice bottle of plonk.
Had been given a nice surprise on Saturday when my girlfriend told me she had insure me to drive her car. She'd mentioned it before I took my test but I hadn't expected her to go ahead and do it so soon. Had a little drive on Sunday as we went to Port Sunlight on the Wirral.
Had a nice chicken stir-fry in the Lady Lever art gallery there. Didn't look at any pictures or stuff though.
Went up to Birkenhead. Rode on a 102-year old tram to the tram museum.

Looked at a lifting bridge. Went and saw this big beam engine called the "Giant Grasshopper" which was used to pump water out of the Mersey rail tunnel.

A serious feat of engineering from way back.
In the evening we got the Blair Witch Project out on video. Meant I got to drive again. Hadn't actually seen the film before. Managed to miss it in the cinema years ago.
Then Monday morning meant an early train back down to London and straight back to the grindstone.
That's about it.
