Cherie Blair - dancefloor diva?!

Does this mean she'll be on Top Of The Pops?

Top bombing!!

Heard that one of my favourite comedians, Peter Kay, is due to become a father.

Great news for a top bloke.

Means he's put off the next series of Phoenix Nights so I'll have to make do with the 2nd series being repeated on Friday nights on Channel 4.

Got my offer letter and contract through today for my new job.

Big wad of paper to plough through.

Had to sign the offer letter and contract and fill in a medical questionnaire, personal details and bank details and give details for security vetting. Had to sign the Official Secrets Act cos the company does a lot of work for the Government.

Once they've got my references sorted and decided I won't die in the near future it should be all confirmed.

Have to do Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm so it's 2.5 hours more than at present but no evenings or weekends which are what piss me off about my current job. Oh, and it's better paid which is a bonus too.

Got today off work so just relaxing. Hard to do anything in this heat so doing as little as possible.

Been twiddling around with the Egg website and set up their Money Manager so I can see all my bank accounts and cards in one place, even from other banks. Need to see just how useful it is as there are probably lots of things it won't let you do.

Sitting watching the cricket on Sky.

Yorkshire Phoenix's openers have launched an onslaught at the start of their innnings in reply to Warwickshire's 273-6. They're having a fairly poor season - well they're bottom of Division 1 in the NCL and looking prime candidates for relegation - although they're doing OK in their attempt to get back to the 1st division of the 4-day game, sitting 4th in the table at present.

Noticed that Teachers is back for another series on Channel 4 tonight. Had seen the trailers promising a new series but didn't realise the series started so soon. The last series was compulsory viewing during my final year at Aston.

Been trying to catch up on all the blogs on my favourite list. Problem is I keep adding more to the list. Still got plenty of reading to do. Will try again tomorrow!!

My 'fire escape' and visitor counter are proving popular, having been shamelessly copied by RAGMonkey. At least Daisy had the decency to ask how to get a counter. An email has been dispatched to you Daisy.

Can't actually take the credit for either of them as Azeem mentioned the counters on /dev/null and the fire escape was off another site.

Been planning my next set of CDs to buy. Got to wait for my credit card to tick over to the next month before I can buy anything though.

Planned purchases:

The Coral - Magic And Medicine

The Darkness - Permission To Land

Thrills - So Much For The City

White Stripes - Elephant

Manic Street Preachers - Lipstick Traces

Dido - Life For Rent

Bob Marley - Legends (or any other greatest hits album that's got all the great songs on - any ideas people??)

Some or all of these will be bought soon off t'internet. Probably some others as well if I get inspired in the next week or so.

Time for Teachers!!

Bob's wife's got satellite!

Teachers was back last night and well on form.

Kurt and Brian's double act seems to have taken more of a central role now that Simon and Susan have gone to pastures new for the time being at least.

Didn't notice any random animal moments last night though.

The 1st series is out on DVD on Monday so that will be added to my shopping list below. Only got into the show on series 2 cos I was on my placement in Germany when series 1 was shown.

Series 2 is out in September so that will probably get bought then as well.

In other news:

Network Chris has imposed speed restrictions on me to stop me doing anything excessive in the continuing heatwave. All visits to the gym are postponed until further notice. Only essential travel is recommended - means I still have to go to work this afternoon. Damn!!

More items have been added to my 'wish list'

Athlete - Vehicles & Animals

Turin Brakes - Ether Song

Phoenix Nights Series 2 DVD

Going to be some serious spending done next week. Luckily some of the items aren't released yet so I'll being spreading some of the cost over the next couple of months.

Always get carried away when I start planning some purchases off t'internet as I suddenly remember all the things that I've been meaning to buy for ages.

That's why I've decided to write everything down here, so I know what I'm meant ot be buying.

Looking for a good Feeder album (or two). Trying to get an album that has all the best tracks on. Looks like I'll be settling for Comfort in Sound & Echo Park. Not settling for exactly, as they both seem like top albums but would have preferred just one CD with a mix of songs from both.
